Grup Tari Kemban, based in the Lahat region, South Sumatra, consists of seven dancers backed up by six musicians.

Synopsis

Tari Kemban is about the circle of life in which three ethicqal values “ngumay”- upbringing, ”ngayap”- loving and “ngusuri”- encouraging play a vital role.Tari Puteri Renayu is an adaptation of the folk tale “Si pahit lidah” - “man with the bitter tongue” - a man who is capable of putting a curse on someone. .
In the village Tanjung Telang, Lahat region, South Sumatra, there is a rock that serves as a reminder of the following occurance:
One day the haughty princess, Renayu, met a wanderer, nicknamed “Si pahit lidah” whom she expected to bow to her in reverence but he ignored her. A nasty fight ensued from this irreverence on the wanderer’s part. To teach her a lesson, he put a curse on the princess and turned her into a rock.
