Background

Sangar Tari Darma  Giri Budaya was founded by Loediro Pantjoko, S.Sn. He began studying dance when still at Primary School until he finished STSI Academy in Surakarta, Central Java.
He founded a dancing school, Padepokan Seni Sarotama, in Surakarta which was headed by Mujiono S. Kar, an experienced dancer who had participated in international dance performances in the USA, Japan, Hongkong and Cambodia.
Padepokan Seni Sarotama won various local awards in capital cities like Surakarta, Surabaya and Jakarta.

Synopsis

Kuda Kepang Wonogiren
The story is about the setting up of the horse regiment of Raja Prabu Klono Sewandono against his enemy. This dance contains elements of speed, courage, fun and persistence.
The musical accompaniment is a mix of traditional Javanese gamelan, “reog”, percussion instruments as well as vocals, all intended to reflect a village atmosphere.
