Profile

Sono Seni Ensemble is a group of devoted young musicians who understand the learning process as a means to create new compositions and musical forms. From July 1998 onwards, the group has intensively worked on new creations and also committed itself to digging up musical sources.

Their composers come from different ethnic backgrounds thus enriching the ensemble's repertoire. They contributed many pieces of music which were performed in major cities throughout Indonesia and overseas.
In July 1999 they attended the Sapporo Music Festival in Japan, visited Weimar, Germany, then "Kulturhauptstadt Europas 1999" (European Capital City of Culture in1999) where they performed works by Wayan Sadra.
In June 2002 they appeared at the Millennium Festival 2 K in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The musicians received full public support when performing all over Java, Bali and Lombok as well as in large cities in Sulawesi and Sumatra.
